It's been an interesting weekend to say the least. It started off quiet, then Saturday Nicole and I went to see Mom and Dad with Kali, they had just got home from Florida. After I dropped her and Kali off later I was almost home, dreaming of Chinese food and a movie, and got a phone call from Nicole, Eric's mother was found unconscious and the ambulance was called, could I watch Kali that night? Sure thing. Two seconds later the phone rang again and it was Nicole crying and freaked out because Kali had some sort of "seizure-like" thing happen. She had laid her down and Kali all of a sudden stiffened and her eyes rolled back in her head. I turned around and went back to their house, by that time Kali was crying, but because she wanted her bottle. She seemed fine but when we called the hospital they wanted to see her. So that was where I spent Saturday night, they of course found nothing, and said she seemed fine. Nicole wanted to stay with us that night, poor Eric was going between two hospitals, his mother and his daughter. The next morning Eric got a call, the hospital was saying his mother was brain dead, and needed a liver transplant. They hurried over and Kali spent the day and last night with me, and she is here today too. But there is a happy ending, Eric's Mom is not brain dead, they had her moved to Concord Hospital where they proceeded to take out the breathing tube, upon which Carol opened her eyes and said Hi to the nurse! I'm not a doctor, but I don't think if you are brain dead that you can talk. Also she does not need a liver transplant. Her liver tested ok, not great, but not bad enough to need a transplant. Lucky her daughter sent someone over to check on her when she didn't answer her phone.
Kali has to go for an EEG to be checked further because while the ER doctor said it didn't sound like a seizure, her regular pediatrician said it did sound like one. sigh.

Update: Carol continues to improve every day.
