FINALLY!!!!!

My sister Shelley, the proud new Grandma!

It's a boy! Lucas Warren Reynolds, born at 12:43 am on April 30, 2009. Weighing in at a "mere" 9lbs. 5oz. , and he is 23 inches long. They broke Tiffany's water on Wednesday morning and she was in labor all day. He looks almost identical to his Dad's baby picture, and he will be a big boy just like his Dad. I think Josh was 10lbs. when he was born and 23 1/2 long. And now he is over 6 feet tall. So this little bugger is going to be just as tall I think. He is cute as a button too. Who ever thought that saying up anyway? I have never looked at a button and thought, oh, that is the cutest button I ever saw!!

Monday, April 27, 2009

I think it was the day after Easter that I wrote about my nephew's wife being thisclose to having a baby. Believe it or not she still hasn't!!!!!! Her original due date was April 18th, then they switched it to April 13th. Now we think the original was the accurate one because the baby is big. But still, holy moly she must be uncomfortable.
Services for Gary's father will not be until the end of August. He wants his ashes spread in the ocean so his current wife, Ingrid will be spreading half his ashes in the Caribbean Sea, and half we will be spreading in the Atlantic Ocean on his birthday, Aug. 30th. The plan is for us all to go to Freeport, Maine where he used to keep his first sailboat and go out on a chartered boat. Cripes I hope I don't get seasick as I seem to do on boats in my older age, I can't imagine puking into the ocean as they are spreading my father-in-laws ashes there!! That wouldn't be cool.
The weather here has been beautiful, yesterday in the 70's, Saturday was 90! Today is going to be about 72 and tomorrow in the 80's, then it will cool down. Yesterday we took the motorcycle out, let me just say, how in the world does a woman with a huge ass ride on one of those seats?? OMG, I thought I was going to die 20 minutes into the ride. New seat time.
I guess Brooke didn't need to go all the way to Florida for school vacation to get warmth, but she has been having a good time and doing a lot of swimming. She won't be flying home until Wednesday.
Nicole is freaking out about her pregnancy weight gain, then the next minute polishing off a Quiznos prime rib sub. It is so funny to listen to her talk about food now, she has always been so little and never ate that much. Food is an obsession since she got pregnant. The doctor said she doesn't even look as pregnant as she is, and she is right on target with her weight gain. Heck, I still think I look more pregnant than her!

Isabella Moon

Two years ago in idyllic Carystown, Kentucky, nine-year-old Isabella Moon disappeared on her way home from school. Is it just coincidence that Kate Russell, a young woman with no discernible past, arrived in town just months before Isabella's disappearance? When Kate walks into Sheriff Bill Delaney's office to tell him that Isabella's ghost has led her to the child's hidden grave, he immediately views her as a suspect. Mystery follows mystery as a local athlete drops dead, inexplicably, on the basketball court, and someone close to Kate is viciously murdered.
This book has a lot of twists and turns and is very suspenseful. But the end was not what I expected, it didn't end with a bang, it kind of just drifted to an end.

From Dead to Worse

This is the 9th book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. Just as good as the other books. The next one comes out in May. Can't wait for that!

Frozen River

On a Mohawk reservation on the Canadian border, Ray (Melissa Leo) teams with widowed tribe member Lila (Misty Upham) to smuggle illegal immigrants into the United States. Although the work provides the women with much-needed money, each trip puts them in danger. How long will their luck hold before the authorities close in?
This was an excellent movie, I really enjoyed it.

Pineapple Express

After witnessing an underworld murder involving a corrupt cop (Rosie Perez) and a drug kingpin (Gary Cole), a straitlaced pothead Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) must go on the run with his dealer (James Franco) to escape the wrath of the vengeance-minded criminals.
This was pretty funny, I like Seth Rogen but James Franco stole the show in this movie.

Bill Henry 1941-2009

Bill, Gary and Billy
At out wedding in 1988

Bill's boat the Erin Go Bragh III

This has not been a good week for the Henry family, first Aunt Priscilla and then unexpectedly Gary's father Bill. He lived in Puerto Rico, and owned a 50-foot sailboat that people chartered for vacation excursions and fishing trips. He was supposed to have a back operation in VA, and something went horribly wrong. We still aren't exactly sure what, possible a heart attack caused from something he was taking for his back? The doctor's put him in a coma, but after further testing there was no sign of brain activity. Yesterday they removed all life support and he passed away around 2:40 PM.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

When his painfully recent ex-girlfriend shows up at a gig his band is playing in the city, Nick (Michael Cera) grabs the first girl he sees and asks her to pretend that she's dating him-- but only for the next five minutes. He never expected their fauxmance to turn into something real. Still, the more time they spend together, the more it seems like they're falling in love.
This movie was not not liked very much in my household. The only reason i liked it is because I think Michael Cera is a cutie, and there were a few scenes that made me laugh out loud.

Seven Pounds

Distraught over his wife's death--and convinced that his own actions had something to do with it--a depressed IRS agent (Will Smith) begins plotting his suicide, vowing to improve the lives of seven strangers in the process. But a chance meeting with a woman (Rosario Dawson) who has a life-threatening heart defect threatens to derail his plans when, suddenly, their budding relationship feels a lot like love.
Have tissues handy when you watch this one. Not my favorite Will Smith movie but very compelling.

R.I.P. Aunt Priscilla

Aunt Priscilla is in the middle row, fourth from the left in the dark blue jacket. This picture was taken at Fryeberg Fair last October, which is normally when we got to see her. She would come up from Florida every year and spend a few weeks with Gary's mother. Even though she has been fighting cancer for a long time, I didn't think that was going to be the last time I saw her, she actually seemed to be doing pretty well. But she did go downhill over the winter and lost the battle Wednesday night.

Howdy Pardner!

Louie says: You've got to ask yourself one question-
Do I feel lucky?
Well, do ya punk?

Easter 2009

Me and Gary

Shell and Brandon

Mom

Brooke and Gary

Tiffany- Due any minute now!

these pictures are all from my parent's house, we actually went to Gary's mother's too but since I drew the short straw and was squeezed into the middle seat at the back of the table there was no room for picture taking maneuvering. I ate too much yesterday, 2 dinners. You would have thought at the second one I would not be as hungry? wrong. I ate like I hadn't seen food in a week. Then we brought the desserts out. You know those people that say that sugar does not make a kid hyper? that's a crock. I ate way too much sugar yesterday and slept like absolute crap last night, until a half hour before the alarm went off of course.

My nephew's wife is due today. After looking at her yesterday I am casting my ballot for a girl (they opted not to know ahead of time). Stay tuned to see if I am right......

HAPPY EASTER!

Shooter

An expert marksman (Mark Wahlberg) is coaxed out of seclusion by colleagues who need his help in preventing a plot to kill the president. But he soon realizes he's been set up when he's framed for the assassination attempt. Can he elude the law long enough to bring the real culprits to justice? Danny Glover and Michael Pena co-star.
This movie was really good, lots of action and Mark Wahlberg was perfect for the part.

God Grew Tired Of Us

After raising themselves in the desert along with thousands of other parentless "lost boys", Sudanese refugees John, Daniel and Panther have found their way to America, where they experience electricity, running water and supermarkets for the first time. Capturing their wonder at things Westerners take for granted, this documentary, an award winner at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, paints an intimate portrait of strangers in a strange land.
This was a great film. Brooke watched this at school and thought I would like it and I did. What these boys went through is incredible.

The Boleyn Inheritance

Three women who share one fate: The Boleyn Inheritance
Anne of Cleves: She runs from her tiny country, her hateful mother, and her abusive brother to a court ruled by the terror of a vengeful king who despises her. Her Boleyn Inheritance; accusations and false witness.
Katherine Howard: She is in love- but not with the diseased old man who made her queen and beds her night after night. Her Boleyn Inheritance; the threat of the axe.
Jane Rochford: She is the Boleyn girl whose testimony sent her husband and sister-in-law to their deaths. Throughout Europe, her name is a byword for malice, jealousy, and twisted lust. Her Boleyn Inheritance; a fortune and a title, in exchange for her soul.
The Boleyn Inheritance is a novel drawn tight as a lute string about three women whose positions brought them wealth, admiration, and power as well as deceit, betrayal, and terror.
This book cannot be put down. It was even better than the first one.

People know that they can truly depend on you.

You should live: In Europe

You should work: At a company dedicated to helping the world

Nicole ~ 16 Weeks

This is 16 weeks, the picture below is 12 weeks
just a tad bit bigger. When we were at the grocery
store the other day she kept staring at herself in the
glass of the frozen food aisle, I thought she was
choosing vegetables until she said, Oh my God!
look at how wide I am!!!

Role Models

Slackers Danny and Wheeler have coasted their way through jobs at an energy drink company. When their goofing off catches up with them, they're sentenced to community service with the Sturdy Wings mentoring program. The assignment is supposed to teach them responsibility, but it just proves that they're the last people who should be in charge of kids.
This was pretty funny, I love Seann William Scott, he has that smirk in every movie.

Swing Vote

It's Election Day, and the eyes of the nation have fallen on one beer-swigging couch potato named Bud Johnson (Kevin Costner), who, through no fault of his own, finds himself in the position of being able to single-handedly choose the next American president. Kelsey Grammer, Nathan Lane, Stanley Tucci, George Lopez and Dennis Hopper also star in this.
This was a great movie! I didn't hold out much hope for it but I loved it right from the start. I always forget how much I like Kevin Costner!

Good-Bye Megan Joy!

I don't know why she didn't ask my opinion of what to sing, but there is no doubt that Megan, in choosing to march to the beat of her own drum, chose the wrong songs to sing. I was rooting for her, but she couldn't be saved again.
