Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Last night we went to the Ogunquit Playhouse and saw Breaking Up Is Hard To Do featuring songs by Neil Sedaka. It didn't start until 8:30 so Gary had plenty of time to get home from work and eat dinner before we left. It was a really good play, and funny with good music. It took place in 1960 at a summer resort called "Esther's". Esther was played by Renee Taylor who was on the TV show The Nanny, she played the mother. Two thumbs up for this play.

Brooke's Bedroom

So these are some pictures of the inside of the sun room after we put our furniture in. Note the half wall that separates Brooke's bedroom from the rest of the room, it is a piece of 6'x6' white vinyl fence. Gary and I came up with that idea (actually it was me!) and it works perfect. She has some privacy and the mess can be hidden from our view, voila! We are still waiting for the guy to come and build the deck and put the lattice work around the bottom. He was maybe coming today, but I am not holding my breath. We still have a leak in the sun room, which Gary is on the roof trying to find right now and fix. If there is no deck-building today we have to go find a bureau for Brooke, her clothes are all over the place, which is not unusual but I would like to at least have a spot where she could put them if she wanted!
My MIL is here for a few days, not here in our camper, in her own. She has Timmy's youngest and his friend Alex with her. Alex took a dive off his bike the other night (actually the tire fell off!) and split his chin open. Charley had to take him to York Hospital and he got 9 stitches. At first he was scared, but then when they numbed it up, he thought it was cool.

The Quickie

This book was so good. It was a very quick read, but
I couldn't put it down! When you start reading it you
think you know exactly where it is going, but it takes
a lot of twists that are unexpected. I already bought
this on audio book from E-Bay for Gary to listen to, this
is just the sort of story he will really like.

Wedding Plans

So yesterday, Brooke and I went with Nicole and Nina to scout some wedding reception locations. Nicole is not getting married until October 2009 but you can never be over-prepared. The top two pictures are of Steele Hill Resort right here in Sanbornton, just up the street from me actually. They have beautiful views, and Gary and I had our wedding reception there 20 years ago in October. :) The man who runs the weddings is still the same guy who did ours. Nicole was not overly thrilled with the reception room which I could not find a picture of. I am totally guessing on costs because they will go up for next year. But an estimate for a wedding reception here is about $6500.
The third and fourth picture were from Gunstock Mt. in Gilford. You can actually have your ceremony on the summit of the mountain, and every one rides the chair lifts up. Is that cool or what?? The reception area was very large and the woman who showed us around was really nice. Nicole was not keen about the ceremony on the summit, she has her heart set on walking down the church aisle. An estimate for this one would be about $$5500, and that is really an estimate on my part because this is the only one I don't have the food prices on yet.
The fifth picture is Opechee Inn in Lakeport. This was Nicole's least favorite. I couldn't find a picture of the building they have the receptions in, but it was not at all attractive on the outside even though it was right on the water. Even the paving was yucky on the parking area. The inside was nice, really big, and they are re-doing it with new carpeting and window treatments. It would be the cheapest probably because of the way the outside looks, I estimate this one would be $4500.
The last picture is Church Landing in Meredith, the most elegant place. It also is right on the water, and the reception room is large and nice looking with beautiful chandeliers. This one is way out of our budget, not only do I estimate the reception to cost about $12,000 here, but you have to fill 10 guest rooms, and they have to stay for two nights. At $300 or so a night. right. And you have to have a minimum of 150 guests, I would like to see Nicole's stay around 125. So, there they are, she is leaning towards Gunstock at this point, If you read this and want to leave a comment let me know which one you think is the best....

Celtics Win!

The Celtics returned to glory
and won 131-92 at last night's
NBA final against the Lakers.
I of course fell asleep, why do they
play so late??

Congratulations to the Graduate!
