John Saul certainly is not on a level with Stephen King or Dean Koontz, but I have read some of his books through the years. Stephen Kings writes out-there story lines that somehow are believable when you read them. This story line in The Homing was really out-there, and not very believable. And it was about insects, boring! But I did finish the book because I am basically a nosy person and I had to see what would happen in the end.
